About South Horizons

OK, this is the boring bit I was talking about. haha But who’s to know? Maybe some of you may like this section? Some of you, like me, may be curious about these places, and like to know more about them before visiting?

South Horizons is a district that is located at the western end of Ap Lei Chau. Ap Lei Chau is also known as Aberdeen Island, and is the Southern District of Hong Kong. Take a look at the section further down -Where is South Horizons? – to see a map and get a visual of the location.

Besides private housing, this estate has many interesting sights to see and activities. One of the sights to see is the 800 metre long promenade where you can catch an awesome view of the sea and islands. The other things of interest is the fact that there are more than 50 species of plant to see at a nature trail.

But you are not here for that are you? The place of interest for you is the Marina Square East Centre. It is one of the two shopping centres here at South Horizons.

Prada Outlet Store Entrance

This outlet is also referred to as Prada Space. I don’t really get that though. It is a factory outlet. So let’s just call it that, all right? It is the Prada Outlet Store!

At this store, you can get past seasons of Prada handbags, shades, belts and more at 50% to 80% off! And any items with minor defects are sold at an ever cheaper price!

If out of season stuff does not matter to you, this is great place to shop and buy. You can prepare for winter by buying winter wear during summer or get spring and summer clothing during winter. All at 50% to 80% off.

And if you like the sister brand, Miu Miu, this outlet stocks merchandise from this brand too. And yes – at the same huge discounts.

So, now you can see why this is one of the must Things To Do in Hong Kong, especially if you are a fashionista.

About Horizon Plaza

Speaking of fashion, when you go to the Prada Outlet Store at South Horizons, you must make a stop at Horizon Plaza. There are twenty eight (28) floors of furniture and fashion factory outlets. All together, there are nearly one hundred (100) shops.

It is veritably a fashion heaven where you can shop for discount designer fashion brands such as Hugo Boss, Armani, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Trussardi, Ecco, Chloe, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna and Moiselle. Just to name a few. The building also includes upscale brand retailers such as Lane Crawford, Max Mara and Joyce Warehouse.

All of the stores offer big discounts. I have seen some even offering up to 90% off for their products.

Shopping Tip: There may be more special offers than what is stated. Check with the sales staff. I have friends who bought many items from the same store, and managed to get further discount on top of what was offered.

I thought of writing more info. But why bore you? You came to learn about the outlets in Hong Kong, especially at South Horizons. And I think I covered enough in the above. So let’s get to the important part here, shall we? – How To Get To These Outlet Stores in Hong Kong?

Where is South Horizons?

As mentioned above, South Horizons at Ap Lei Chau. Another name is Aberdeen Island. Here is a map showing where Aberdeen Island is, and specifically where is South Horizons.

As you can see, it is an island at the south west end of Hong Kong Island.

How to Get to South Horizons?

MTR

When you zoom in to the map above, you can see that there is the South Horizons MTR Station. This is the terminus of the South Island Line.

Hong Kong MTR - South Island Line to South Horizons

From where you are, transfer to the South Island Line. Take the direction towards South Horizons Station.

Bus

There are many buses to South Horizons. They are buses 90B, 93, 99, 99X, 171, 171P, 590, 592, 595 and 671. I truly feel it is so much more comfortable and convenient to take the MTR (see above).

Taxi

Then, of course, there is the option of taking the cab. Or Grab. My friends and I tried this before. It costs a lot more. And not really faster than taking the MTR. I would still suggest travel to South Horizons by MTR.

Walk

Not possible unless you are staying at South Horizons. But a moot point, yes?

Where is Prada Outlet at South Horizons?

The address says that the Prada Outlet Store is on the 2nd floor of the Marina Square East Centre. You don’t really notice this when you exit from the South Horizons Station. See the map below for the location of the Prada Outlet Store.

How to Get to Prada Outlet Store at South Horizons?

MTR

As you can see from the map above, the Prada Outlet Store is just next to Exit A of the South Horizons MTR Station. So, when you arrive at South Horizons MTR Station, look for the sign that says Exit A. Then get out via that exit, turn left and you will see the Prada Outlet Store.

Need more guidance? Watch the video above. I actually film the part where I came out from Exit A, and walk to the Prada Outlet Store. It took just a minute or so. Really. Watch the video for proof.

Bus

As mentioned above, you can take the buses to South Horizons. And then walk from the bus stop to the store. But why do that when you can easily travel in comfort on the MTR (see above).

Taxi

Also mentioned earlier, you can choose to catch a cab or get Grab. It really is not much faster. And costs more. My suggestion is to take the MTR. It’s faster, cheaper and more comfortable.

Walk

The only way to walk to the Prada Outlet Store is when you stay at a hotel or residence near Marina Square East Centre at South Horizons. In that case, ask the concierge for directions.

Where is Horizon Plaza?

Horizon Plaza is also at South Horizons. It is a little distance away from the Prada Outlet Store. See the map below to get your bearing.

Don’t let the map mislead you. The walk to Horizon Plaza is really short, only about 15 minutes. Watch the video above to see how I made my way from the South Horizons MTR Station to Horizon Plaza.

Operating Hours

Monday to Sunday: 10.00 am to 8.00 pm

Travel Tip: Allocate at least half a day to explore this awesome shopping place

Address

How to Get to Horizon Plaza?

MTR

Take the MTR to South Horizons MTR Station first. See the directions above for How to Get to South Horizons.

If you go to the Prada Outlet Store first, then you will be taking Exit A. After your visit to Prada Outlet Store, you can walk to Horizon Plaza. Watch the above video for directions.

Alternatively, if you are going to Horizon Plaza first, before descending on Prada Outlet Store, then go to Exit C. Walk to Lee Nam Road and along that road for approximately 15 minutes to Lee Wing Street.

Still unclear? Watch the video above as I film the journey from South Horizons MTR Station, down Lee Nam Road, and finally to Lee Wing Street where Horizon Plaza is located.

Bus

There are many buses serving South Horizons. Choose any one that takes you from where you are located to South Horizons. Then walk about 15 minutest to Lee Wing Street. Personally, I have tried the buses. I feel it is much more comfortable and convenient to take the MTR (see above).

Again, if you need to see directions visually, the video above is perfect for you.

Taxi

Honestly, the first time I visited Horizon Plaza was via a cab. That was because I had no idea which MTR line to take, and which station to alight. Now, I am wiser.

If budget is not an issue, then sure. Take a cab or Grab to Horizon Plaza.

Walk

Same as above, you can only walk to Horizon Plaza if you are staying at South Horizons, and especially at a hotel around the Marina Square East Centre. Otherwise, I do not advise it.
