Besides, Nook, we heard of another one of the Best Places to Eat in Bali. And that is Warung Nia – Best Pork Ribs in Bali.
I read that their barbecued pork ribs was really good. And I wondered how true could that be? An Indonesian warung (that is, a restaurant) specializing in local Balinese food could somehow create the best pork ribs?
Needless to say, we have to try this. So, during our itinerary planning before our vacation, we mentioned Warung Nia to our private tour guide. At first, it seemed he have not heard of this eating place.
When it was time to have our dinner here, the private driver began our journey here. For a while, we were a little worried that he did not know how to get here. But our concerns were unfounded.
As always, our trusty private tour guide and driver knew where Warung Nia was. And we reached there in a very short time.

Warung Nia – Best Pork Ribs in Bali – The Video
Warm welcome sung by friendly staff. Local Balinese cuisine with western food influence. Warung Nia food and setting was enchanting. See the location, how to identify Warung Nia, the hot and exciting barbecue kitchen, the refreshing drinks and, of course, the delicious Balinese food. Local and charming. Watch the video now.

What is Warung Nia All About?
As we walked into Kayu Aya Village, we saw there were many tables in a large open area. And there were many warungs along the side of this square. It was a little disorienting and confusing.

This was because we expected an entire space that is Warung Nia. After looking around, we realized that Warung Nia is one of the restaurants in this village. We walked a little further into the square, and found Warung Nia.

When we reached Warung Nia, we were greeted with a welcome song sung by the staff. It was very unique and awesome! It was sung in Balinese and English. Watch the video above to hear them singing their welcome song.
Another interesting fact about Warung Nia is that it is a little well known on the Internet, and yet not quite famous. It can still be considered a hidden gem in the heart of Seminyak.
As we looked around, we were deciding whether to dine indoors or outdoors. The weather was quite lovely, with a cool breeze. As such, we decided to dine outdoors.
Travel Tip: I highly recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. During peak season, the restaurant can get quite full quickly. Book a table to avoid any disappointment.
How is the Food at Warung Nia?
The warm and friendly staff showed us our table. After we ordered the food, I decided to explore the place a little. And I noticed a brilliant blue light on the right of the Warung Nia sign board.
The Barbecue Kitchen at Warung Nia
I walked closer, and discovered that it was the kitchen where they barbecued the pork ribs and sate (meat chunks skewered on sticks, seasoned with local flavorsome spices). Watch the video above to see the chef in action.

I managed to catch the chef just finished barbecuing sate. See the image below. They look so yummy, right? I could smell the lovely fragrance of the spices mingled with the meat. Could not wait to get my share of sate.

What Did We Drink at Warung Nia?
I returned to our table, and the drinks we ordered were served. They looked so colorful!

Besides the vibrant color, I liked that the drinks were also healthy. The Mango Crush had high levels of vitamin C, and rejuvenates the skin. Great drink to have after a day in the sun.
The Virgin Colada helped with stomach and blood circulation. I liked that as I believed it would help my tired body. Plus, the drinks were really refreshing and great tasting. They perfectly soothed our parched throats on that hot and humid day.
What Meal Did We Order at Warung Nia?
It was very relaxing and enjoyable to sit and enjoy the sweet drinks while we waited for our meal to arrive. And soon enough, it did. We ordered the Balinese Rijsttafel Set B.

We knew Warung Nia’s barbecued pork ribs was popular. And many reviews on the Internet praised how good tasting it was. But we also loved sate. So, with our kind waiter’s patience and advice, we decided to go with the Balinese Rijsttafel Set B. It had both, and few more delicious dishes.
How Was The Barbecue Pork Ribs at Warung Nia?
After we took a bite at the ribs, we realized that we should have ordered the entire rack of pork ribs. It was truly excellent!
But we already have so much food on the table. So, with regrets, we decided to have the whole rack of ribs another day.

There were two small portions of the pork ribs, and we were still happy and grateful that we had the chance to taste it. It was so tender. And each bite was filled with so much flavor from the spice and condiments.
Travel Tip: The barbecue pork ribs are the best! When in Bali, you must try this at Warung Nia.
How Was The Sate at Warung Nia?
We tried sate at other warungs. And we wanted to find out if the sate at Warung Nia was any better. We are happy to report that it was.
It looked like Warung Nia is excellent with barbecue food. While the pork ribs excelled and was still the best dish in the house, the sate came a close second.
The sate were also very piquant. The meat was soft, tender and succulent. The taste was delightful and authentic Balinese style.

Travel Tip: If you are looking for authentic and great tasting sate, then you must get it at Warung Nia.
Besides pork ribs and sate, the Balinese Rijsttafel set meal included local and authentic Balinese dishes that are just as appetizing. Each of the dishes is described in the next section below.

Asia Travel Gems Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0
Considering all these points, you really get great value at Warung Nia.
In addition, I like the quiet dining experience here. Although outdoors, the dining space is actually tucked away from the main roads. You can enjoy a peaceful evening, dining and catching up with your friends and family.
I highly recommend having dinner here at least once during your holiday in Bali, Indonesia.
Where is Warung Nia?
Some people have mentioned on the Internet that Warung Nia can be quite difficult to find. And after going there, I can understand why.
Warung Nia is located at the center of Seminyak. But it is not along any main road. It is tucked away in the Kayu Aya Village. So, if you are finding the place on your own, you need to look out for a small sign. Then walk a short distance to the village.
When inside the square, continue to walk past a few warungs, and you will find Warung Nia.
Alternatively, travel like me. I hired an awesome private driver and tour guide. All I needed to do was to give him the address, and he drove my friend and I to Warung Nia.

How to Get to Warung Nia?
Train
Nope. No train to Warung Nia. In fact, no train in Bali.
Bus
From what I have seen, it is better to take the taxi or get a private driver.
Walk
You are going to Warung Nia to enjoy a meal. Don’t walk. It is too far, and you will end up drinking more than eating. Perhaps be so exhausted that you are unable to enjoy the pretty paddy field view. Take the taxi or get a private driver.
Taxi/Grab
You can take the taxi or Grab to Warung Nia. For more information about getting about an Indonesian city, read my article about Indonesia.
Scooter/Motorcycle
Looks tempting because it is a cheap way to get around. But be careful. Wear a helmet. We did not choose this after reading about the accidents that killed many locals and tourists who rode scooters or motorcycles.
Private Driver and Tour Guide
I do find the best way to get around Bali is to hire a driver who is also a tour guide. There are so many fascinating and interesting places to visit in Bali. And it can be quite a lot of work to organize the ideal itinerary to see as many of these attractions as possible within the limited days of your vacation.
*Travel Tip: Make your vacation stress free. Get a tour guide. It is also cost efficient.

Kadek helped us to plan the ideal itinerary. He clustered the places of interests that were in the same districts so that we do not rush from one end of Bali to another. Plus, he arranged the schedule as we desired – light and lots of time to immerse into each location.

If I know anyone going there I will probably suggest this place.

Hi Tim. We didn’t try any sate (I know we should) nor did we go to Warung Nia. There are so many good foods in Bali and there isn’t enough time for us to try them all. Kadek took us to Naughty Nuri’s, famous of its pork ribs. Another famous place is Wahaha where a friend took us. Both their BBQ pork ribs are yummylicious in their own ways. I believe Warung Nia’s are delicious in their own way too. Never leave Bali without trying BBQ Pork Ribs! 😉
Also, Nasi Campur Ibu Oki. We take away and ate at the airport before departure. That’s how food crazy we are 🙂
Btw, Kadek took us to Warung Mak Beng – the best fish soup in Sanur, Bali. You have to try these next time you are at Bali.
You are so right, Sharon! Never leave Bali without trying any of their BBQ Pork Ribs! I must try Naughty Nuri and Wahaha next time I am in Bali. Thanks for the suggestions.
Nasi Campur Ibu Oki huh? Sounds awesome! We had nasi campur too. But from other warungs. Will share that soon.
Yes, Sanur, Bali is one of our next stops for our next visit to Bali. We intend to keep all the places closer to Ubud for our next adventure.
Very happy you had a great time enjoying all the yummy food! 😀
I always enjoy checking out this travel community, the videos are almost just like being there and the reviews are very realistic and honest. With this article, I have to say I am impressed and ready to pack my bags for a trip to Bali, if nothing else just for the ribs, they look wonderful.

Hi Timotheus,
Thank you for this well laid out and informative article about Warung Nia.
Your narration, photos and videos about your visit to this local authentic Balinese restaurant and the best food they offer say it all. Looks like the Balinese Rijsttafel Set is all one needs for a full meal. It makes it a lot easier to order for someone new to the place.
Awesome story!
You’re welcome, JR and Zen. Glad you like the way I write, and the true story of how my friend and I enjoyed a great and delicious meal at Warung Nia.
The Balinese Rijsttafel Set B is a good choice when you wish to sample all the good dishes they offer. And if you have the appetite, which you may have after a day of tour, you should go for the full rack of pork ribs.
